Basel to Amsterdam aboard the Viking Eir    #vikingsocial

Five IFWTWA journalists enjoyed the opportunity to experience a charming Rhine River cruise in Europe to experience Christmas Markets in Germany and France. The markets are where many holiday traditions began. A Christmas market is a street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent. They can be found scattered or grouped among town squares and can attract as many as 80,000 people on a weekend. The best of these European markets can be found in Germany and France and are just a few feet or short miles from the Rhine River.

Our stops included such famous destinations as the Black Forest, Strasbourg, Breisach, Cologne, Koblenz, and Colmar. Each stop featured not only Christmas markets but a wide variety of diverse tours to local wineries, beer houses, castles, museums, churches and restaurants all leading to our final stop in Kenderdijk, Amsterdam to visit a unique windmill community. IFWTWA participants were asked to focus on social media as part of their “job” on this press trip. Dubbed the #vikingsocial press trip the group posted daily on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and are tasked to produce a minimum of one other article, blog or video.
